How it works

Residential snow removal — single-visit, seasonal plan, or storm-by-storm for Canadian homeowners. $79–$129 per visit, $580–$960 per season, photo proof to your phone before invoice.

Residential snow removal at snow.ca is structured for how Canadian homeowners actually use the service. Most clear their own driveway most storms, then need help on the worst three or four storms a winter. Some homeowners outsource the entire winter to a seasonal plan.

How does residential snow removal pricing work?

Plan typePriceBest for
Single visit$79–$129Self-clear most storms with backup
Seasonal plan (12–20 storms)$580–$960Seniors, busy professionals, snowbirds

Single visit covers driveway, walkway, end-of-driveway windrow. Seasonal plan covers every triggered storm event — works out 15–25 % cheaper per storm across the season.

What is included in a residential snow removal visit?

Standard scope of work:

  • Full plowing of driveway from street to garage door
  • Walkway shovelling from driveway to front door (1–2 m wide, 5–15 m length)
  • End-of-driveway windrow cleared (the heavy stuff the city plow leaves)
  • Pile placement per your saved preference

Optional add-ons:

  • Pet-safe ice melt on walkway and stair landings ($8–$15 / visit)
  • Rear deck clearing
  • Side-gate access for utility meter reading
  • Detached garage walkway

When do you arrive after snowfall?

Standard residential SLA is 4 hours from a 2 cm trigger. In practice:

Storm typeTypical arrival window
Routine 5–15 cm overnight5–8 AM morning after
Heavy 20+ cmMid-morning routes extend
Daytime storm4–9 PM evening route
Premium "before-I-leave" serviceCleared by 6:30 AM (+15–25 % surcharge)

Do you clear walkways and steps?

Yes — walkway shovelling is included in every residential snow removal visit.

  • Crew shovels driveway-to-front-door walkway (1–2 m wide × 5–15 m length)
  • Clears stair landing
  • Clears area immediately in front of the door

Side yards, detached garage paths, rear deck access from side gate, mailbox approach are larger-scope add-ons priced at signup. Roof clearing is a separate service (requires fall-arrest equipment).

How does residential snow removal pricing work?

Two structures. Single-visit at $79–$129 per visit covers the driveway, walkway, and end-of-driveway windrow. You call us, we send the crew, you pay for that visit. Best for homeowners who clear most storms themselves but want backup for the worst three or four storms. Seasonal plan at $580–$960 for a typical Canadian winter covers every triggered storm event (typically 12–20 events depending on your city). Best for seniors, busy professionals, snowbirds, and any homeowner who values predictable winter cost over potential savings on a low-storm winter. Seasonal plans work out 15–25 % cheaper per storm than single-visit pricing across the season. We do not penalise you for switching between modes mid-season.

What is included in a residential snow removal visit?

Standard scope of work: full plowing of the driveway from street to garage door (single-car, double-car, or extended driveway), shovelling of the walkway from driveway to front door (typically 1–2 metres wide for 5–15 metres length), clearing of the end-of-driveway windrow left by the municipal plow truck, and pile placement per your saved preference (south fence, designated corner, never against the neighbour's drive). Optional add-ons available at signup or on a per-visit basis: pet-safe ice melt application on walkway and stair landings, rear deck clearing, side-gate access clearing for utility meter reading, detached garage access. Roof snow removal is a separate service (high-accumulation events only, see /services/roof-snow-removal).

When do you arrive after snowfall?

Standard residential SLA is 4 hours from the moment 2 cm of snow accumulates on the ground. In practice, most storms see 8–18 minutes per driveway on the actual clearing job; the variable is how quickly the dispatch routes your crew to your address after the trigger fires. For routine snowstorms (5–15 cm overnight), most residential customers see the crew between 5 AM and 8 AM on the morning after the storm. For heavy storms (20+ cm), routes extend into mid-morning. For storms during business hours, evening routes run from 4 PM to 9 PM. Premium "before-I-leave-for-work" service guarantees clearing by 6:30 AM at a 15–25 % surcharge — best for homeowners with hard 7 AM departure times.

Do you clear walkways and steps?

Yes — walkway shovelling is included in every residential snow removal visit. The crew shovels from the driveway to the front door (typically 1–2 metres wide for 5–15 metres of walkway), clears the stair landing if applicable, and clears the area immediately in front of the door. Optional pet-safe ice melt application is available at signup or on a per-visit basis at $8–$15 per visit depending on walkway length. For larger walkway scope (side yards, detached garage paths, rear deck access from the side gate), the add-on is priced at signup based on linear metres. Roof clearing, by contrast, is a separate service because it requires fall-arrest equipment and dedicated roof crews; see /services/roof-snow-removal.

Can I book residential snow removal online?

Yes — our online quote-and-book tool at /quote takes about 60 seconds. Enter your address, pick single-visit or seasonal plan, confirm driveway size and any add-ons (pet-safe ice melt, rear deck, side gate access), and you get an instant quote. Booking accepts Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, and EFT. For seasonal plans, the first storm event is your trial — if the crew performance does not meet expectations on the first visit, we refund the balance with no penalty and unsubscribe you. For single-visit, you pay only for visits you book. There is no phone-tree negotiation, no upsell, no "promo rate that expires in 24 hours" pressure. The quote is the rate.

What if my driveway has a steep slope or tight access?

Tell us at signup. Steep-slope driveways (over 12 % grade), tight-access driveways (under 2.5 m wide), and driveways with overhead obstructions (low garage soffits, overhanging trees with low branches) all require a smaller machine than the standard skid-steer-plus-truck combo. We dispatch a compact unit (ATV plow, mini skid-steer, hand-shovel crew) for these properties at the same per-visit rate. Driveways with very steep grades over 18 % may require an ice-control upgrade (calcium chloride pellets rather than rock salt) to maintain traction for the crew's safety; the add-on runs $5–$12 per visit. Heated driveways, in-floor radiant driveways, and pavers that cannot tolerate steel-blade contact also need disclosure at signup so we dispatch a rubber-edge unit.
